Just these past few days, we’ve had 4 of our 2 month old turkeys die. We’d find them dead in the run or the coop, but the one that just died a few moments ago had been brought into the garage. It was off balance and flopping around.

we have a lethargic one separated as well, and hes started displaying balance issues as well. He’s not eating or drinking, and I’m also worried because flies are swarming him…

im not primary one taking care of these lil guys, im only taking care of the sick ones. i do know theyre out with chickens, another full grown turkey, and a few ducks, though. i saw someone say they keep them separated until three months, is that our problem?

If blackhead is a problem in your area, keeping turkeys with or on the same ground chickens have been on can be a death sentence to turkeys.

On the other hand, your poults are at the right age for coccidiosis to be a problem.

If it is coccidiosis, treat with Corid.

I tried looking up if blackhead is a problem in our area but i found almost zero information.

i’ll monitor their droppings for symptoms, thank you.

What is their living situation like? Are they getting plenty of clean water? Enough protein? What type of food are they eating? Coop and run freshened regularly? How much space do they have?

i dont think its super great, i dont know about their food and water but i’ll ask. it just rained so its been muddy and gross in there, but they have a lot of space.

Update- i think this lethargic one is having seizures. The other remaining 4 have been separated as well.

i’ve been calling around to the vets near me (as the extension agency is closed right now) and they said they’ve only seen one turkey recently with a different issue. i dont know if theres different places i should call as well.

i have now been told that theyre being fed meatbird crumbles as well

update again- the lethargic one died. i think it died of exhaustion due to the sheer number of seizures it was having. i was timing its seizures, heres the times if anybody needs them

If they have coccidiosis and you don't start treating them right away, there won't be any left to treat.
