Didn't know where to post this, or if it's maybe already been done but I often daydream about this....

What sort of chicken set-up would you have if money was no object?

I'd build a concrete block building with human doors on each end and lots of windows, a big fan set in the wall for summer, automatic waterers as well as defrosters on the pipes, separate breeding pens for various breeds as well as individual stalls for broody hens or injured birds.

I'll second that and add that instead of concrete block, I would like a rock building like you would see in the french countryside. And a huge run on the side for times when the chickens could not free-range. And up the hill would be my french country farmhouse with a big front porch shaded by trees, and old brick walkways heading out to the coop and gardens. Now you did say if money was no object, correct? Let me wake up now!

Coop

OMGosh ummm I would build a huge building that was divided into "apartments" with attached half covered runs, a hospital suite on one end that was self contained, a broody suite at the other end and a grow out section attached. All eletric waterers, anti-freezing pipes, fans for summer and heat for winter to keep the interiors around 40 - 50 degrees. Of course a monitoring system, music for them, play & amusements items in each section and a HUGE supply storage area. Each apartment section would have a group living happily... and be large enough for them to be confined during the bad weather times.

It would match my new house be decorated to the T.

I would have "real" fencing and gates instead of the T-post, wire, and trellises I now use for gates. Everything would be goat proof to keep these guys out of the chicken yard!

Cute goats!!

Im thinking huge old english country barn with an aisle down the middle and houses down each side (painted in pastel colours!!) with indoor runs, with pop holes leading to huge outdoor runs filled with branches and logs and leaves to churn over annndd chicken playhouses

Oh and dont forget a long wheat and grass fields for the chickens to go play in and for straw and hay. And a massive duck pond with a floating duck house

These houses in these colours

I love the French Country look. The stone buildings, old brick paths etc really is an amazing picture, the chicken house of my dreams would be in a far corner beyond the garden......

I wish day dreaming and obsessing over chickens paid well...until it does, I'll take day dreaming and chickens over money.
