Your experience with leghorn mixes??

I recently bought 10 leghorn/probably sex link mixes. They are mostly white with a few flecks of brown feathers. They are pretty lean looking like true leghorns.

My ??? is, how do they compare as layers with real leghorns? I got a good deal on them, that is why I picked them. Figured they could at least lay as well as a sex link. Just curiouse if any of you have some leghorn mutts.

I crossed two colored egg layers with a nice leghorn rooster one time "back in the days"

The hens from this cross were white like the rooster. About 75% of them laid green or blue eggs of nice size, they were not broody and they laid really well. They were a nice medium size body wise, and their feed to egg ratio was definitely acceptable.

This was in the 80's, someone had told some of my neighbors that "colored egg layers" laid eggs with less cholesterol in them ! I sold eggs for $3 a dozen for a few years. Then I moved.....
