Friends,

I'd be interested in your opinion about pricing pullets. If it were March or April and the girls were just starting to lay (RIR, Rocks, Orpington, Leghorn, etc), what price seems reasonable to you??

Terri.

I just sold a friend 4- 10 week old for 20$ and threw in a silkie for free-It was my prettiest buff but had to make room for my projects :-(

A lot will depend on the supply & demand in your particular area. If everyone around you is pricing them as low, and there's a lot available for buyers, then you'll have to do the same. Or eat a lot of chicken.

I sell my young pullets for $1 a week of their age, up to $20. "The more you pay the sooner they'll lay" is what I say. Chicks at the feed store are $4-$5, so if someone thinks $20 is too much for a point-of-lay hen then they're welcome to buy a chick and spend the 5-6 months raising it themselves. It's not worth it for me to sell them for less.

Everybody - thanks tons for your opinions. I was thinking about pricing at $10. You've made me realize that isn't quite enough. You all rock!

Terri.

Terri,

I would pay a chunk right now if I could find 3 of what Im looking for that are at the pointof lay-Id 20$ APIECE on the ones Im looking for-cant seem to find any-I have 1-2 of each I want but Id like a few more-im trying to hatch out what I need at the moment but thats such a gamble too-Id wind up with all roos! When I was new I thought 15 a piece was insane but now that I know alot more....it's totally worth the price! good luck
