I went out to the coop to collect the eggs and noticed one of my BA in the nest. I thought it was a little odd that she would be in there at almost 5pm. Since they normally lay in the morning. Well I sat out there for 30 minutes waiting for her to get done and the little fart is showing broody signs. One of the eggs rolled out from her a little and she nuzzled it back under her. When I reached in to try and grab the eggs she puffed up and started bawking at me some.

Can a 21 week old australorp already be broody? They just started laying a few weeks ago.

anythings possible lol

if you're up to it, let her brood and see how she does.

Silly bird. I dont mind broody hens, but so soon. Hopefully I can break her up and maybe sometime next year I'll let her raise some. Right now there is no rooster in that pen. Later I do plan on breeding her with my splash araucana. I want some blue babies.

I do too, but not at 21 weeks. Lol. Well I just got my bator in yesterday and have been eyeing a few here and there. What all do you have for sale?

ETA: Ive been looking at BCM, araucanas, and some blues. I love that color.
