My month old Cornish X's all have yuck head from the fermented feed. They've had yuck head since I started them on it when they were 2 days old. They seem healthy, with the exception of one every now and then. I worry that they are going to get sores or that it hurts them. How do I clean it?

How wet are you feeding the FF? It doesn't need to be coveted by water only needs to be a poridge or oatmeal consistency. If you make your FF dryer they won't get there heads wet and you won't have this problem. Good luck:)

I use a fine mesh strainer to strain my FF to get it thicker. What kind of feeders are you using? You can throw some scoops of food around on the ground for them to go nuts over and then fill their feeders, which would probably help this issue a little bit. But I do think you might have it a little bit too wet too.

Mine ferment is wet, but definitely clumpy like oatmeal. I've been putting it in galvanized feeding troughs and I suspect it may be mounded too high and they are sticking their whole head in it. Today I feed in some wider tin trays so I could spread it around a bit.

I am also using a strainer when I scoop it out. Do you know how much 24 birds should eat at a month old?
