Hi. I want to plant zinnias along my fence where my baby geese will eventially have free range. Will they eat the zinnias like they do weeds?

THANKS so much to anyone who responds!

ah darn! I wonder if there is anything i can spray on them to make them taste bad?

did they eat the flowers or the whole plants?

i have a gazzillion zinnia seedlings right now and want to plant them in my backyard & thats where the geese are!

You can take a bar of Irish Spring soap and grate it with a cheese grater and just sprinkle out a few flakes on the ground a foot or so out and toward your plants and they won't mess with them.

i just remember reading somewhere that sprinkling cayenne pepper on plants or the soil around them is good for keeping squerrals away.... but that is because the squarrels are sensitive to the cayenne on theirs paws supposedly. i wonder if it would work on geese?

Yep, I use it around my garden for deer and wild Turkeys too, they won't come near it. It gets even smellier after it rains on it a few times. I will sprinkle the edges if the garden about twice during a growing season. I'll tell you something else Geese, Turkeys and deer don't like the smell of is moth balls.
