Zoning Ordinances in Mohave County, Arizona **UPDATE**

Even counties have municpal codes.

ETA: when the CDP is unincorportated, the laws for that area fall back to the county's municipal code.

All that means the county hasnt posted it online....that or you havent found it yet.

I checked the big sites already. Municode.com, amlegal.com, ecode360, etc. You will have to call the county clerk to get the municipal code, probably. IN there, you will find what the county defines poultry as: PROBABLY not as an animal, but a fowl or avian. THen you can go forward and argue about the "3 livestock" rule.

I Live in Lake Havasu City and Prior to moving up here I lived in Wittman and ALL Land was zoned as Agricultural, However when It comes to mohave county it seems as though it is sorta shady as to what you can have and where. I was reading the zoning laws for Poultry, (domesticated animals) It STates : - 30 -
Section 14 REGULATIONS FOR AGRICULTURAL-RESIDENTIAL OR "A-R" ZONE

ts, poultry for domestic use. Horses and
cows may be maintained for private use

Now there is NO Limit given, and Doesn't specify city or town or area.. Just in an A-R Zoned area.. which means your lot where you live MUST be zone as Agricultural Residential to have these! Now I have a green house on my front porch only because the darn rabbits kill every thing you plant, I also want to get some chickens for the Eggs, I've read and read and Now I guess its time to find out what my lot is zoned as ... weather I can get them or not. You Might want to see what you are zoned as then go from there. Or just call the city office where you live and ask them. I also had read before a few years back on the City bi Laws For my Town, That you were allowed to have chickens for personal use IF they were kept more than 50 Ft away from any livable Dwelling and none of the neighbors complained about the noise or smell However if they did complain then they would have to go.

Only where permitted, any person(s) who possess horses and livestock including but not limited to, mules, cattle, burros, goats, sheep or poultry must be kept in a pen or similar enclosure to prevent roaming at large. Any livestock or poultry running at large may be impounded by Animal Control. It is unlawful to cause or allow any stable or place where any animal is or may be kept to become unclean or unwholesome.

I know all of these posts are old but ppl seem to continue to post, so I will too..
If there is a question on where, how many, size and if you can go to the Arizona House of Representatives laws. Here it states the local or county laws shall apply unless it conflicts with their laws regarding chickens. If this is the case, the HOR laws will supersede any city or county ordinances. Also, it states, No city or county authorities may prohibit anyone from having chickens. There’s more to size and location of to to neighbors property line and your home etc.
