Because I am currently obsessed with ducks, I happened to snap several pictures of the ducks that roam our zoo when we went yesterday, and I thought I'd share. Enjoy. :)

Thank you.

Pretty! Pretty! Obviously several "mankys" in there. ;) I think at least 1 of mine will end up a "manky" too.

Now I have to ask... What's a "manky"?
"Manky" is short for "Manky Mallard..." Basicaly it means "mutt." ..... or... "Some-lot"= some of this.....a lot of that.... :)

Mallards will breed with pretty much every kind of duck, and so you get "manky mallards." A lot of times, some ducks (those who are the product of mallards and a different breed of duck) display characteristics of mallards (such as a green head or partially green head), but do not display the classic coloring of the mallard duck.

Now I have to ask... What's a "manky"?
Also - A lot of Manky ducks will have white in random places. The white comes from domestic ducks, such as the Peking. I have 1 mallard duckling who I think will be a manky. The two tip wing feathers are white. My vet says that those feathers shouldn't be white if she were true mallard.... I will have to wait and see how she (or he) turns out. :)
