Checking all nails
I keep patio stones in my run I think that helps with over growth, but I did not know what to look for before. Thank you I now imagine it would be like me breaking a finger nail and then having to scratch. I will pay better attention thank you for sharing.

i love my roosters they usually tend to be braver with humans than the hens do I think it may be genetic so the ladies can get to safety the boys face perceived danger. Once they realize no danger from you they tend to come alive personality wise.

Dogs and cats offer love and loyalty in return for food water and love, a rooster will too.

Thanks for letting us know it is possible to keep more than one without having a hen quotas

Great use of space.
Why did you change from sand?

Thanks for sharing your coop and ladies.

This wild sand was very dusty. Just too much for the birds and myself. Purchased play box sand is much less dirty and dusty. I needed a new medium and found that wood mulch is cleaner, actually easier to clean and warmer in the winter. Sand is quite cold, great for summer, not so much for winter. Sand is back breaking heavy, wood mulch chips are super light. :)

how big are you planning the run?

If you are digging a trench already for electricity I would suggest adding a water source as well.

Sounds like you will have some really spoiled chickies.

I wanted to add A/C to my coop, DH Is still laughing.

Great looking coop good and solid.

i do seem to notice my favored chickens usually end up at the bottom of the pecking order. I am not sure if I favor the weak or if the other chickens take note that I have given a treat "out of the order".
I do try to respect their status and their environment and I have no problems with human aggression.

This article has given me a bit more insight Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.

This article was so well written The story book like education was perfect!
I laughed I cried ( remembering some of my boys)
My Lulu is a love. He is the rooster people do not believe exists! He takes care of his ladies well and is always happy to see me. I pick him up because he likes it not because he needs training.
He has a pullet and 2 cockerels and by gum if they ALL didn't get his personality!

I love my roosters and would show this article to anyone that crowed at that!

Thank you for sharing your memories and educating us all on the Pitt Bull of the Chicken Species.

lots of fun facts.
Rubbing color off an egg can be done if you add white vinegar to the wash water. I have done this on overly dirty eggs.

this is just about exactly what I am looking to build.:thumbsup

More info please,

What are the dimensions?
How many chickens do you keep in there?
Can you say more about the removable run?
Do you also have supply storage built in?
What is on the front? Is it hardware cloth?

I Love it!
