Augsburger Thread!

We just received a batch of day old chicks and did not see a thread dedicated to this particular breed. They are new to the US and there is very little info or pics of them on the net. We don't have any adult pics yet but the adult rooster has a bright red double "buttercup" comb that is quite striking against the black feathers. Here are some pics of our chicks and a link to our brooder that has a live feed of our 16 chicks. We can't wait to see these chicks grow up and become the "pollo diablo" the nickname we gave them.

I have 2 that are 3 months old and 6 that are 1 month old. The older pair have the buttercup comb and I think thy are pulles. I didn't think much of them before, but they are becoming quite striking. When I get some pics I'll post the.

Paul, are they good layers? I have many pullets and I think just one male. The youngest ones I got from you are about 2 1/2 months old. I love the green sheen on the feathers. Most of mine have the buttercup comb too.

We picked up another pair of Augs they are a little older than ours and should be laying any time.

Well we have collected 9 eggs in 8 days so not sure if we have 2 laying or an overachieving hen
