Agreed! We're in Ontario (1hr west of Toronto) and looking to start our flock again with Chanteclers. Any tips for sourcing chicks or pullets?
are you close to Erin?
Welcome...where abouts in Canada are you at? I live outside of Erin, Ontario. I'm a newbie also to chickens. I started back in June with 5 chick's and now have 14 chickens...it becomes addictive.
Im by no means an expert but I might be able to answer some questions given my little experience...
Okay thanks if you don't mind checking.
I live in Ontario so Temps can be as low as -30 but that's worst case. Otherwise Temps right now during the day are +10...nights are around 0
I think it was sold to me as an Easter egger chick. I'm debating getting rid of him cause as much as he loves the ladies he's coming across to me as aggressive in nature.
But there is no guarantee that my other rooster won't become aggressive either...
Correct?
Thanks for the input....I can't remember what I bought him as...but I think it's what I thought when I got him as a chick.
I ended up with 2 . He seems to be the happier with the ladies but can be aggressive. Not to me but to the other hens.
Saw the forum about naming your chicken coop...didno know people were so passionate about it. So I decided to get on that wagon and go back to my German roots and name my chicken coop
(House of the crazy chickens)
Started on this last night...really easy to do...very rewarding to see done...
Since your passionate about chickens selling it for you will be easy.I always believe that when a salesperson truly believes in the product they are selling then it's much more convincing.
Raising and processing your own chickens is so cost effective...and makes sense...but I can see how it would be difficult especially if you think of them as pets
Good luck on your interview....what would you be doing there?
