Yup!! I named two of mine Thelma and Louise. They're young pullets and take off the second the coop door opens up. Those little crests on top of their heads all I see, off the road runners go.
Yes, he's the Cream Legbar from Triplell and Judy, too. I do have some pails, maybe through I should try old Tidy Cat litter ones for her as a transition, still a bit trashy, wouldn't want to go to fancy from her Oscar the Grouch trash can too fast!
Hi all! I haven't stopped in for awhile but wanted to show you my hen from Triplell, Judy, she's been so funny. I adore her. She thinks she's a robin I think, up in the bird feeder. ;)
But now she goes from laying once or twice a week, in the nesting box, to five times a week. But, she found...
Wow! These gentlemen are all STUNNING!! My neighbors aren't all that close but they do hear my roo regularly, so I'm hesitant to add another, but after seeing all these guys it's so tempting to have another rooster in the yard and try another breed.
He sounds like a great guy! Look at that comb! My roo comes up to me each morning almost like to say hello and loves some sunflower seeds from my hand but he's a bit skiddish to come too close to me. I feel attached to him anyway, wouldn't part with him. I love how personable Eric is, especially...

Thank you! I'm curious about high ventilation, too. It seems the norm and of course lets the most heat out in the summer, but also then the most heat in the winter. Or am I over thinking this? I have a pretty big new vinyl-framed window that my dad was getting rid of, and adding a smaller one...
I've personally always been more into the hen discussions, egg-production, etc. when it comes to breeds. And I realized I can see a lot of hens and name the breed pretty frequently on sight. But roosters, hmmm never paid much attention. I saw my roo wandering the yard yesterday and thought he's...
I'm rehabbing a little shed (put in windows, etc for ventilation), but thinking on insulation. It's summer and I just want this done and can tell myself I can add insulation later. But time flies and fall and winter roll in and I'll wish I just did it while the coop was empty, clean, and still...
