It is very intresting to look at the breeds they used and did not use. Langshans used to be used widely as an egg laying type in Eastern USA.
The carcass has a lot to do with how they (sussex) are finished, although selection still needs to be applied it's how they are finished that makes all...
It interesting to here that the black strain seems weaker than the Tri colours,Redbro's, and Yellow strains. That's something I would not expect that... Interesting I have an Idea what's going on with that black strain but don't want to say for sure
Depends what section you are looking at... Vantress red Cornish won in the FCR aspect .
Also you can avoid those dark pin feathers if you butcher at the right age. Chicks go through several set's of feathers and by butchering when a set is completely in there well be very,very few to none...
