Thank you. She is in our bathroom right now, which is the warmest room in the house. Will the blu-kote be ok for an antiseptic, or should I get something else?
The dog belongs to some people across town. It killed six of my bantams this fall, and so now every time it gets loose it makes a...
Hi all,
Today my poor Minnie had a fight with a neighbor's dog. The dog tore her up pretty badly. Her skin is ripped open from halfway down her back all the way to her tail, and the dog chewed into the muscle right above her tail/into her thigh. I brought her in, cleaned the wound and...
Got my ornaments from itsmechrissy today, so cute! I don't have pics yet but will get some as soon as I can get them away from my son, he's been carrying them around since I opened the package today. Thank you so much!
I am up to five fluffy OEs and one more just pipped! Here are some pics, the best I could get for now.
They are all so cute, but I have completely fallen in love with one with white tips on its wings and belly. Fingers crossed that it's a girl!
Oh good, I was worried about how the usps would treat them.
@Nathan, if you mean how did I make mine, I started with a blown egg and drilled the side out with a dremel, then used a small paintbrush and painted the inside.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner, for some reason my notifications are not working right.
Things are going ok, as well as can be expected. My son is doing better, but still struggling with not having his dad around. He prays nightly for God to bring him his daddy back.
I still don't understand what...
Mine are almost done. I keep eyeballing them trying to decide if they are good enough to send out as they are. Sometimes I like them, and other times I feel like they look more like my 4 year old made them for me, lol! But I will send them out either tomorrow or Wednesday I think.
Do you keep them outdoors? Colder temperatures and shorter days will slow down egg production. I have mine outside and my girls have quit laying since the weather started to get cold.
I don't think a roof will help all that much. I have a covered run for my birds, and it still turned to mud the last time it rained. But I guess it depends on how big the run is and how well it drains. I would still put up a tarp just to keep the rain and snow off of them though. I think putting...
I don't see why you couldn't do that, but I don't know how much good it would do. In my experience those rice warmers don't stay warm for all that long. But if they were well insulated with hay, they might last longer. I would try it out, and if it doesn't work those rice warmers are nice to...
Welcome from a fellow Ohioan!
Sounds like you've got a nice setup going. It's a good idea to have more than one chicken, they are social animals, so adding the new girls was great. You'll find a lot of great information and friendly people here who are willing to help you with any questions...
