Thanks for your encouragement. I feel like she was too depressed in her holding cell after the traumatic incident. Today I let her hang out with the other ducks and she was so happy. I decided to have her be with her fellow ducks and she is in the coop. I think now that there is only one male...
My duck was badly injured in the Great Duck Massacre of 2016 in our yard. Our total flock was 12 and now we have 7 left. One duck has open gashes on her neck and seems to be rather alert. Immediately after the incident I tended to her first aid (I'm first aid certified), and placed her in a box...
Ive been reading other experiences from people. The hen only gets up during the heat of the day, I would think they can tell if they have dead eggs. I guess im optimistic, ill check smells and maybe wait another week before disposing the eggs. Thank you!
We had one successful hatch (3 still borns-because mama accidentally crushed them) two days ago. The clutch is comprised of not one single chicken. There are brown and green eggs in it. We had guessed when we closed off the mom that the chicks would not be hatching for another week from when...
Everyone looks great this morning. My adult ducks did not enjoy sharing their coop and did not lay any eggs this morning. Im going to hatch some more eggs this month and make some Welschugas or cayulaquins.
There is fungus growing. When I took the heat lamp off they huddled in the corner. We moved them into the shed. The local help said it sound like a neurological disorder caused by a deficiency. So hopful electrolytes and added brewers yeast along with new location will help.

Temp is around 90degrees.

This bord transformed it's shape as the snow began to collect. There was never an egg laid similar to the. Eggs that were questionable from this shim. Anyway, this roo is long gone.
We have one duck that has been laying over the last year. We began to cherish duck eggs and ordered more ducks this spring. Outer last duck took about 6 months before laying, but it was also january and freezing. Super consistent layer until she molted this spring. She began laying again and has...
