Swedish Flower cockerel, no name yet

We had 18 of 20 of our Crystal Creek Lav split eggs hatch. I think my acquisition of Lavenders this Spring can officially be labeled as "Excessive" Oh but we will be so set next Spring! Just wondering, are the silvers naturally more flighty?

I'm not real familiar with that breed but by the comb and how it looks like it stands I would tend to think it's a roo. My experience with the roos is that they will be a bit more outgoing than pullets. Cockerels will approach you more readily than a pullet and if you stand and just observe...

That's a hard one, my niece and nephew just left and they are 28 and 10 months. Even with three adults here to help out it was still a bit crazy.

Wow, we had the same experience! We had a few days there where I was taking 8-10 dead chicks out a day. It was terrible, but I figured it was not just something I was doing wrong since it was mostly wheatens. I think we only lost maybe one silver and no blacks at all.

Last Falls shipment from Jean, I think they are so beautiful! We have it narrowed down to three Buff cockerels. I will eventually post pics of all three as I will need help deciding who should move on. We also had a heck of a time with our John Blehm shipment. Had 58 shipped, not sure...

Same here for late hatchers and for quitters. The odds are so much better with our own eggs rather than shipped, but this year we're relying on a lot of shipped eggs so it's been a bit of a bummer.
