Costco (at least our Costco - Poway) sells an organic 40lb layer for around $19/bag... it's worth trying. FWIW, I'm in a co-op for Modesto Milling feeds; that helps save a lot of money.
Hi Elaine - I just saw your message on FB - sorry for the delay! I do not have a black only pen... I have a blue and splash roo over black, blue and splash hens. I tend to hatch a lot of blues, and only a few blacks.

I'll be bringing a bunch of nice BBS Ameraucana pullets from Paul Smith's program; hatch date was 2/22/14. I won't bring any of the boys unless somebody needs one; I have both BBS and two Wheatens. (I also have one Isbar roo, and two blue Olive Eggers.)
