    Rhode Island Red — gender?

Thanks everyone! My husband was in denial that we ended up with a cockerel. They were supposed to be pullets!

    Rhode Island Red — gender?

Hey there! These Rhode Island’s reds are about 5 weeks old. Based on the comb and waddle it looks like I have one pullet and one cockerel. Does that seem right? Thoughts? Thanks!

Do you think any of these will lay anytime soon?

So interesting! I have a EE that just started laying today, and in the last few days I noticed how vibrant red her comb was compared to before. Makes sense now!

She started laying — and laid 2 eggs right away. Green eggs! A little bummed they aren’t blue, but green is cool too!

2 out of 7 of my chickens are limping

Hey! They are doing much better. We isolated them for a week to heal. We widened the roosting bar and added a ladder. We also made sure we had some more wood shavings to cover the floor of the coop for them to land on. Hopefully yours can be healed and feeling better soon too!

P.S. I have them isolated and inside since it’s so hot out. They are both eating and drinking.

Hey, thanks for the response! I just looked up blue ameraucanas, and if I didn’t know better I would think the images that came up were of my own chickens!

    What breed am I?

Yes I agree- the muffs were making me suspicious that they aren’t blue rocks. Thanks for the reply!

    What breed am I?

Hi! What breed do you think she is? Or just a mix? She’s about 3 months old. We were told from the people we got her and a couple others from that they’re blue rocks, but not sure. Thanks!
