Hi everyone. Starting to keep poultry after a break. Wanting to stock up on a few items for a first aid kit.
Have come across a product called Tt guard it's a mix of Tylan / Denaguard. (Tylosin / Tiamulin) thought this would be handy for those emergency respiratory issues that always seem to...
i used a brinsea octagon 10. i had a similar problem to you. all made it to the end 2 didn't hatch, 2 did. i have one lovely gosling 2 weeks old now, sadly the other one that hatched didn't make it.
i think this was humidity issues too. even though i had a gauge in there to measure the humidity...
yes the sticky by pete 55 is really helpful, i referred to it often when i was waiting for my new arrivals. hope it goes well for all of you waiting for goslings!
if its a bit bloody, maybe you could try that dry iodine powder spray, its meant to be very good, that will stop it getting infected. and keep it nice and dry. glad he/she seems well otherwise.
hi there from a rather wet gloucestershire
our geese share a nest, its their first laying season together, the african x sits the chinese does not. sometimes they are both on the nest together to lay and the african rolls the chinese egg under her i think she likes to pretend she laid it.
i hatched eggs recently, i found folding half a sheet of kitchen roll down quite small and placing it in the water well so it was sticking out a bit, really increased humidity as creates more surface area for evaporation. good luck with your hatch.
it looks like it is going black ready to drop off. is your little gossy eating drinking pooping well?
does the area around the stump look red or sore? my little one is nearly 2 weeks old now .
oh thats really sad . same thing happened to me, except it was the male we lost. we could only find an adult pair, so got those and the 3 are really happy together. hope you can find a friend for yours soon.
morning all.
thanks so much for all the suggestions, really nice of you take the time to reply.
yesterday was awful, thought we would lose her for sure. she was laid out very flat unable to even keep wings tucked up, head flat and stretched out. it was dreadful. i just kept her warm and...
UPDATE - she is still with us, she has been started on antibiotics. in a very sad state now. unable or un-willing to stand. i have put her to bed, george spends his time pacing up and down outside or snuggled into her. passed some liquids but no solids since this morning. she did manage to lift...
