I’m somewhat new to heritage breed turkeys and could use some help.
About a month ago I got a bourbon red tom from one person, and 4 bourbon red hens from another. After an introductory period of about of week in close but separate pens, I finally put them in the same pen. My Tom bullied the...
Does anybody know what these dark spots are on my turkey? This isn’t the start of black head is it? She’s acting normal. Eating drinking lots of energy and no runny stool.
I’m not sure what happened, but yesterday I noticed that one of my turkey poults is closing it’s eye. The eye is not red, or weeping and it’s not itching it’s eye. It looks slightly swollen in the photo, but doesn’t look swollen in person. It’s eating and drinking and doesn’t seem to have any...
usually the ones bought in the store are only a few days old. Your brooder is too cold and that’s why the chick is chirping. It needs to be 95 degrees the first week, then down 5 degrees every week after until they are six weeks old and can go outside. Yes you must leave the lamp on at all times...
Did this clear up? My turkey poults eye has been closed like that for a day now...no swelling and she is eating and drinking normally...
Did you have to do anything to help it?

I recently purchased 14 chicks and have never introduced new chickens to a flock before. I have 3 2 year old hens and will eventually need to introduce the new chicks to the old chickens...I’m waiting until the new chicks are 8 weeks old. I’ve been getting mixed messages watching you tube and...
2 days ago I was letting my chickens out of their run. All of them left, but one stayed behind. She couldn't figure out how to get out and panicked. In the panic she tore part of her comb. It wasn't enough for me to trim it, but it was bleeding enough that I didn't want to let her be with the...
They are great eaters, but they put their little legs in their food and kick it out of the container, then they poop all over their food on the ground. I got home and a whole quart jar of food had been kicked out of the feeder and on to the ground.
My chicks are wasting a quart of food a day! I'm not sure what to do about it. Is there a trick that can be used to keep them from kicking their food out of their feeder?
