After my disaster with the power cut I was very surprised to find one of my eggs had an external pip when I got up this morning. This is now turning into the longest day at work EVER!!
I hope so, treating them as normal (dying to give them a wee candle though ). Time will tell. My wee (and only) silkie has been sitting on eggs since Monday but my rooster is a barnevelder (I think) so God knows what I'll get from that!!
Went to put my eggs into lockdown last night only to discover my incubator was off . I immediately switched it back on and it got up to temperature quickly but it could have been off for up to 20 hours. I candles them and could still seeveins etc.. but no movement. I put them in anyway, what...
Just set 6 bearded pure silkie painted eggs . When should I start turning them? Somebody told me on day 7 but I'm sure when I've done this previously I've started doing this from day 1. Thanks in advance
I ended up with just one silkie and 3 polish cuckoo's. Was hoping for better results but I suppose I should just be happy with what I've got. Throwing my big incubator away and will just use the mini advance in the future.
I've got 2 out now with another 2 with iexternal pips. Both the hatched chicks are polish cuckoo's. Just one of my silkie eggs have pipped and they're the ones I really want. I've got two silkie pips in my other incubator. The suspense is driving my kids round the bend, it's all good though...
Woke up this morning to find a fully hatched chick . It looks quite fluffed up already, I've got a few other eggs with external pips and some with nothing. Seems a shame to leave it in there but that's what I should do right?.
