This won't be helpful, but it looks like a tiny single comb to me... but I've been wrong before. It's tough at that age!

It helps to have 6-10 hens at least for every rooster, but sometimes they are still over zealous or pick a favorite hen. I have purchased inexpensive "hen aprons" or "chicken saddles" from etsy which have endured the test of time, and roosters. I've had hens wear one for most of the summer...

I put up 2' tall poultry netting and it keeps them out... except that one time when a hen decided to lay a clutch of eggs in the depths of my rosemary bush.

I came here to suggest permethrin but you just blew my mind with using the sock. I waste SO MUCH DUST with the "dispenser" that the permethrin poultry dust comes in.

I was wondering if it was a darker shell. With the NR 360 candler you probably won't be seeing the veining very easily. Leave the egg. Just smell around the vent hole every day. You'll smell it if it's bad... its really not often that an egg just rots. I've not hatched nearly as many as some...

By this point there should be more obvious veining. Personally though, I never toss an egg unless it smells. I don't want to risk misidentifying an egg as being a dud! Sometimes an egg with a particularly thick shell or a dark shell can be more difficult to candle. I can rarely ever seen...

It's too difficult to tell with the pictures you provided. Candling should also be done from the air cell end. I wouldn't call it a quitter yet. I also suggest getting a better candler. The one on the NR360 isn't that great.

So far I have made no course of action. The roosters have been on decently good behavior.... no more blood baths. I hope things continue to improve!
