Day old chick can’t walk - legs are forward *help!*

I’ve had chickens for 6 years and have raised lots of chicks. Have dealt with spraddle leg before but this doesn’t appear to be the same. This bantam Cochin just hatched last night and had appeared fine in the incubator the first few hours. Then progressively “her” little legs would only go out...

The building of... {no name yet} - let the *fun* begin! VERY pic heavy!

They don't actually! If they did they'd fall off because they hang from chains and aren't stable at all.

The building of... {no name yet} - let the *fun* begin! VERY pic heavy!

Last one of the girls roosting. Have an incubator full right now for spring chicks :-) The sweeter heaters are only turned on when air temps are below -10f. And I remove them after winter. They don’t stay in the coop otherwise.

The building of... {no name yet} - let the *fun* begin! VERY pic heavy!

Hi All! Wanted to come back to my old thread to update you on changes I’ve made over the years. Last fall I changed the roost set up and poop board. Other than that the coop has served us well! I pop out our hardware cloth screens every year to clean with hot soapy water and I take all windows...

    Incuview Incubator

Okay just googled and it looks like the sensor push is +/- 3f for accuracy - so that's a big swing. Perhaps I should just trust the incubator's reading.

    Incuview Incubator

So I added a little Sensor Push temperature sensor to the inside, I normally keep it in our chicken coop and I have an app on my phone to see real time temp and humidity. Not only am I getting a different reading from the sensor cube, but also from a meat thermometer probe I stuck in the vent...

    Incuview Incubator

What a great idea! I will look for your modification thread! I've seen some people use tubing to add or remove water to adjust humidity also.

    Incuview Incubator

Hi All! Realizing this thread hasn't been commented on in a while but wanted to check in with everyone who has been using the Incuview and wondering if you had any tips specifically for it? I actually hatched in the original Incuview back in 2014 and had an awesome success rate, with shipped...

Hen with sour crop - how to treat with Nystatin CREAM?

The Nystatin Cream I have was used for a yeast infection during breastfeeding - so it was safe for my baby to have internally I would think it would be safe for the hen too? Maybe I will try mixing a pea sized amount into a little bit of applesauce and put a little of the probiotic powder with it.

Hen with sour crop - how to treat with Nystatin CREAM?

I have a hen inside in a wire dog crate in my basement. She started with an impacted crop and that has cleared but has left her with a sour crop. It's like a small water balloon. I have withheld food for 24hrs and given only water. I have Nystatin cream on-hand (it was mine) and I also have a...

If you use PDZ and/or sand, PLEASE reply! :)

I use straight PDZ in my poop tray and I use 90% sand in my coop and run. 10% PDZ is my guess. I would add more PDZ in with the sand but I'm worried about dust. It's much dustier than my sand. Anyone have issues with dust using more PDZ with sand on their floors?

    Minnesota!

Here is the info. She's very nice and answered a lot of my questions too. There are a few locations that carry the feed too so be sure to ask her. The one I'll be buying it from is in Vermillion (Hastings). Kit Van de Mark Hy View Organic Feeds, LLC 40928 County 18 Mabel, MN 55954 P...

    Minnesota!

Wondering if anyone here uses Hy View organic feed? The owner seemed nice and it's sold in a feed place near me. It looks a lot like scratch and peck feeds (what I currently buy) but it's cheaper.

There is no ball bearing as these are horizontal nipples. I checked it also before I threaded it and it was perfect.
