Yeah, I know. I also have some hope for a pullet that has the Amerucana father and a production red mom. My Amerucana roo Festus died shortly after the eggs hatched and it is sort of my last chance, Unless my Cuckoo Marans roo breeds with one of my Amerucana hens...
14 week old mixed breed. Father Black Amerucana Mother a Buff Brahma- trying for an olive egger. Lighting shows the comb and wattles a little redder than usual, but the feet look sooo BIG!
So here's the update. I had a borrowed incubator, so I fired it up and transferred the eggs. In just a couple of hours we had a new baby chick hatch, I have another pip, but that's been there since before the move. there is no change in it, so it might not have made it. I'm leaving the others...
When did you set the first group of eggs? People do hatches that way, but not easy during lock-down...I have done 1 incubated hatch, 2 broodys and now the third broody gave up after 2 chicks and now the rest are in the incubator. It's an adventure :)
I have a Production Red that went broody- I know unlikely but this is the second one to do it. She had 10 eggs, 2 have hatched (she collected them over a 2-3 day period. 2 have hatched and are walking around, but there are 8 eggs left. 1 is pipped, the others have no sign. This afternoon she...
I have a Cuckoo Marans rooster who produced some chicks with some of my hens (various breeds) resulting in many chicks- YAY me! The thing is I have one black chick in particular that has what appears to be coppering on her neck feathers. I do have a BCM but her eggs did not hatch and were...
This has been a stressful week. My lead roo passed away, the coop went into an uproar and now I have a Production Red who has gone broody- I know they aren't supposed to but this is the second one to do it. Go figure.
I have a coop for laying and sleeping but the rest of the time my chickens...

Let me say also, that my Amerucana's were given to me at hatch. I did not pay for them and they were never represented as "show quality" birds. They were just something different for my flock and would lay blue eggs.
The white is certainly an EE- yellow legs CANNOT be an Amercauna
An EE ( Easter Egger) is most of the time a "mutt" bird that has been the result of an Amerucana or Arucona (sp) mated with another type of bird. It can also be the result of a non-standard conforming "purebred". In truest terms...

All are doing great. They are eating and drinking, scurrying and doing all sorts of chickie things. No leg problems- I am sort of amazed at that. I did find out how important humidity is during lock down. And it's called a LOCK-DOWN for a reason. Opening that lid, even for a pretty...
Well I believe I have come to the end of this first incubation hatch. I understand it's siren song and addictive properties~
I originally set 17 eggs. 1 was clear at day 14. On day 20 I got a few pips and 1 Black Amerucana hatched during a bad humidity fluctuation. He was born a little sticky...
Have a question-
Hatch day is going very well. My first to hatch was a little Black Amerucana. He is scrappy looking, perhaps because he looks like egg sac got dried on his haed and he has less than normal feathering on his back. Was this due to shrink wrap? I was VERY patient and did not assist...
So far we have 7 out of the incubator and into the brooder. I have one that is struggling with his zip and 2 others that I can see pips on. 6 eggs left kind of just hanging out, but 3 I put in on day 1, so I'll wait a few more days. TODAY is officially day 21 for the first 13.
So I have a first hatch- little Black Amerucana. Squawking to beat the band, so I guess that's good. I have 3 other pips that don't seem to be making any progress and the other 12 are just sitting there. I had 10 confirmed moving at lock-down, 6 non-confirmed because of egg color (one of those...
