It could be that they are eating the eggs. They leave no evidence. I had that problem and I would not have believed it had I not seen it with my own eyes - THE HORROR!
I found them across the street at the neighbors. I hope that they don't make a habit of it because the cars drive very fast on our road, not to mention the dog. I really like letting them out every morning....and they would go crazy if I didn't. Too bad they don't have a zapping collar for...
All but one of one of my chickens have split. Are they going to come back? They usually keep close to home and I just saw them less than an hour ago. I don't know if I should worry or not.
Mine is the same and it has a light sensor on the panel which turns the light on at night. There is also a switch on the panel if you want to turn it off. I like it because I hated going up there in the dark to close up the coop.
I used thick vines about three inches in diameter that I cut to length with the garden loppers. I like to use the vines because they are sturdy yet forgiving if you need to bend them a bit. First I put a nail on the ends of it and then I put a nails in the wood of the coop and I wired them...
I did the same thing and everybody in the house was really mad at me. It's been two years and I really like that my kids don't have much interest in the TV anymore. When we go on holiday and there is a TV in the hotel room, they don't even turn it on.
I did the same thing except a much cheaper ($250) and smaller play house made from red cedar. It is very sweet and it's nice to look at. I put solar landscaping lights inside so at night it looks like a little hobbit house. It took two days to assemble.
Same thing happened to one of my guineas a couple of years ago. Eventually she rubbed herself raw and bloody from trying to get around. We had to cull her - very sad.
