    I love Amerucana's. I had a beautiful one. Unfortunately, She was killed by a neighbor's cat. I was so upset as she had the absolute best personality and always chattering especially when I came to see her. We got a new one and she is very skittish and runs if we come near her. Both laid green eggs.

    Mine crows starting around 4:00 a.m. And doesn't stop for a long time, sometimes 2-3 hours. Needless to say, he is not winning any popularity contests in m neighborhood whereby we have small lots.

    Thank you. That sounds easier, but my rooster is pretty large..see my photo and I've never held him since he got large. Either way he may put up a fuss. Is the box made out of wood, with air holes drilled and some sort of latch? Would you just make it a little above his normal height?
