These hatched out one Fathers Day and the day after and before. Most on Fathers Day. I had two little ones die. Sad They just didn't thrive like the others. No reason I could see. I hate that
. I have never see one quite like this black one with the white eye brows. Love these gray ones...
I did incubate dry. It ran around 35 %. Then I upped it at lockdown. I could get it to go up to 65 sometimes. We are quite dry here. But out of 43 that I had started with I ended up with 33. I felt that was good for me. best ever in fact. LOL
I had an group of older hens that were laying porous eggs. I wanted to get some replacements of them. I put some of their eggs in with eggs I bought and hatched out 5 of the ones I put in. I started with 10 of mine. So I did get half of them to hatch.
I had two more hatch last nite after I figured no more would hatch. Went to bed with no pips and wake to two chicks. I still have 8 eggs in inc. I will leave them a couple of more days to see. I wasn't expecting to be down in my back when all this happened. I am going today to get them set...
This is what I woke up to today. I went to bed with two babies. I have taken them out and the shells out. The shells were attached to some of the other eggs that are pipping. Still have one hatching in the inc. Lots of pips. The babies are hard to see the colors but first one was goldish...
The eggs do not hatch out in order of pipping. The first chick hatched out was the first to pip. the second one was the 8th to pip.
This time the lighter eggs pipped first. only had one dark one pip with them and that was number 8.
They stay a long time sometime between pip and hatch.
It is...
LOL I have a tupper in there with a sponge with water in it but it is still not getting very high. Also, the temp has been right one until I locked down and then then down. I think it might be because of cooler weather outside but we live in an underground house and the temp usually stays...
I have 40 eggs in incubator on day 20 and one has a pip. I was thinking it was day 19. But I forgot day 19 was when I put them in lock down. Having trouble getting the humidity up it is running 56. Hope all goes well. They are barn yard run of lots of neat chickens.
I have three thermometers in there and they all read different temps. LOL Not off too much. I just put a new one in an acurea and it is reading 99 and I think that is probably close. the humidity reads around 30 to 35 I just put an oz of water in to raise it a little for a while.
I have a genesis 1588 and have used it a few years ago. I thought it held the temp and humidity well at that time. I am doing a hatch now and it swings from 99.4 to 99.9 in just seconds. Back and forth. I set it at 99.1 to get it that stable. The humdity stays between 30 and 35 % I put an...
I meant when I go into lock down. I have to take the turner out. So the egg have got to come off the turner then put back in after I move it out. I know it will work. I am just nerves because I want these chicks bad. LOL
I have only one turner with 46 eggs in it and I don't think I can pick up the turner with the eggs on it. It is an older turner. Works fine but not really sturdy to pick up with eggs on it. I will have to move eggs off it one at a time.
Thanks, that makes me feel better. I just read all these things that happen to the hatches and they don't know what happened and I get upset. lol I guess I need to stop reading about the disasters.
