    Isn't this too small?

Neat idea. Needs a ton more room. If they were ONLY ever to sleep there you could get away with it, but that's unrealistic. What about winter when they can't really be outside all day? They can't stay in that when they are awake, they'd be miserable. What about days when you want to be lazy and...

don't see my town in the list of ordinences

Couldn't find your municipal code? Did you try "town name municipal code" in google? because that's always how I find mine. Takes some digging to figure out what is what (chicken are never just chicken, it's poultry, fowl, livestock, depending) but nearly every town has theirs online.

don't see my town in the list of ordinences

I think it means no one has looked up the info. You can look up your town's municipal code/ordinances and see what their stance is. For example, my town isn't there but we have no ordinances against chickens. I just have to have their dwelling 200ft away from anyone else's house. (they don't...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I'm making an apron this weekend. I made some changes that I thought might help since there wasn't really any broken skin or blood, but it didn't really help. Some pin feathers grew in half of it, but one part is still having them yanked out. They live inside, could they still have mites...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

She's only about 28 weeks old. They look like they've been completely yanked out, instead of the usual pin feathers growing in and pushing out the mature feathers. But, idk. I'm no expert.

The husband and I just bought the house I was talking about. NOW TO MAKE A CHICKEN RUN. (btw, the cochin started laying! the eggs look identical to the OEGB eggs though. I was hoping I could tell them apart if I ever wanted to have baby cochins.) I hope this will fix the bullying issues that...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Scooter is almost definitely a girl. Small comb, girly crest, no crowing. I think I'll move them outside. Might do an indoor coop but make a tractor for them to be in during the day. I like the interaction I get with them being inside pets, I just don't like the upkeep. I clean their indoor...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Anyone here from Del City? Moving from OKC city limits to Del City (less than a mile away, but completely different ordinances...) and if I read all the code correctly, chickens are allowed as long as it's clean, doesn't stink, and is 200 ft away from other people's houses (we'll probably be...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I know I don't post often, but I do check this thread every morning before work :), but I just had to toss in that my cochin has started squatting. She's so goofy about it too. The OEGB squats, throws her feathers up in that position, and freezes. The cochin gets in the same position, then backs...

Only pooping 2-3 times a day

If you really meant 6 weeks, not months, she's not broody. Are you sure she's only pooping that many times a day? My silkie poops huge poops compared to my other two bantams, she just always has. She could be pooping smaller other times as well. Are they well formed poops with nice white caps...

    missing feathers - bullying?

I should also mention she's 5ish months old.

    missing feathers - bullying?

I noticed that my silkie's feathers were looking different on her back, but I checked and they just seemed a little sparse. Today she has a big bald patch. I have three bantam hens. They live indoors, but I try to let them out every day. I have never seen any bullying other than when I...

    Issues Introducing New Birds?

When I introduced my new girl, I ended up separating the mean hen. I put her in a 'troublemaker pen' that she could see through but that was the only place she could be for probably a week. After that, I had no issues. I read it breaks up the pecking order. (side note, just separating her into...
