    Chickens ARE herbivores...

Used to work at a custum slaughter house and a few customers wanted them to hang as long as possible. 7 minimum, 14 days average, and if there is enough fat on the carcass they can go as long as three weeks.

We have 3 pairs of ducks. 1 pair of Pekins ,1 pair Cyugas, 1 pair flying Mallards. All are in a common pen, when we are ready to start incubating eggs, how long will we have to isolate the pairs to get pure bred ducklings. I know chickens can stay furtile for up to 14 days after mating. are...

    Friendly Chicken breeds?

I have several breeds of chickens, and my OEG bantams are the friendliest. A few of the little hens are so friendly that they will sit on my shoulders and coo at me .But they might just be asking for the raisins, I have in my pocket ,

    Chickens NOT Laying at all

I agree, it is probably the heat. We have been getting pretty high temps here in Arkansas, and some of my hens have went on strike too. Another way I help keep my birds cool is to spray the dust bathing area down with water every few days.I spray enough water to get the ground nice and damp, but...

Review by '' on item 'Broken Corn'

Chickens love to peck corn off the ground. It is like candy for them. My brood comes running when they hear me shaking it in a coffee can.Can be given occasionally as a treat, but not good as their only food.

cheap chicks to raise for meat.

DH and I are raising Light Brahma and Dominique roosters for the table. Both are dual purpose birds, and my hens are great layers. We tried several breeds last year, and these two gave us the best results free ranging. The Leghorns we raised didn't have allot of meat on them, but the Doms had...

    Clay soil

Hi, my garden was started on clay and rocky soil. After 11 years of picking up rocks, and adding leaves, hay, wood shavings, ash and loads of loam out of the forest, I finally have a fertile plot of ground. I've been using rabbit poo to fertilize, but started tilling the chicken poo, and the...
