Hello!! We also bought the horizontal nipples however, when water is left in the drip tray it freezes! Any recommendations on how to keep that from happening? Also, how did you switch your chickens to the nipples?
Just an update; after an "expert" opinion from the hatchery saying this was definitely a pullet we heard crows this morning. DEFINITELY a cockerel. 14-weeks old.
Thanks again, StarMeKitten - I email Hoover's Hatchery because this is where my birds came from and she is certain this bird is a pullet...? I am just going to wait this out and see if in another 7 weeks or so, if "Bruce" lays an egg or starts to crow.
IF you go back a few pages; you can see my roo at 4-weeks old. It was definitely not a rose comb. I hate to say it but Stripey does look like a roo (per the single comb)
They came from Hoover Hatchery, I actually have two hens and one roo. My roo (pictures above) has a distinct single comb. The comb on Dotty is arose combs and look just like my hen. I can't see the comb on Stripey.
