Thank you for the great step by step information and the great pictures. I process deer, squirrels, rabbits, quail etc but have never done my chickens before. I hope my first batch is easy and I will be more comfortable next time!

Wyandottes- Breeding to the SOP, Showing, and General Discussion

I have SLW and a Barred Rock that I got over the summer to replace 2 BSL that I lost over a few months (1 to below freezing temps in Jan then one to heat in June). So they were supposed to be 1- 1.5 years old, from a lady who had a nice farm yard. She sold them for $10 each. Both are healthy and...

    Ideas to move extra boys?

Get ahold of local sportsman's clubs and bird dog enthusiasts clubs. Bird dogs are easily trained using quail. I've already had someone interested & I've had mine for only 2 weeks!

    Quail are my next obession!

Hello all! I finally did it! Got an old rabbit hutch and some quail! All coturnix and different colors. I have 2 males and 10 females. I have chickens as well, so I had to fence them off to keep the chickens away. White male is Fabio and the brown is Jack Sparrow. I'm not naming the females as...

I have 3 BSL as well. All of my gals are 2 this year. Hoping the BSL don't bully the new ones like they did the D'Uccles when I brought them home.

My 2 have grown up nicely! They are all speckled and lay almost every day. This was from one of the last snows we had here in Western PA.

    helicopter scare tonight

I was out cleaning the coop and had my 2 D'Uccles and 4 BSL out in the yard. All hens. They were all milling around and scratching in the side yard when from the north came a very low copter. All of the hens came running to me, and looked to the sky with that sideways, right eyed stare! Spooked...

How to get 6 mo old D'Uccles to roost at night?

Good info. I know we tried to do a good job of insulating and ventilation. I have seen them roost on several different branches they have, just not at night. They are super cute all piled up top of each other!

How to get 6 mo old D'Uccles to roost at night?

Hi everyone! My 2- 6 months olds are in a separate coop that is perfect size for them. They roost fine out in the run on the different things I have out there, but not in the coop at night. I have even seen them on the coop roost during the day when they were in there out of the rain. They just...
