This post may be in the wrong forum. How do you keep eggs fresh longer? I saw an egg carton, I wondered how? Marketing? False advertising?
Give me your thoughts on this egg carton sale tactic....
My 100+ lb dog loves to eat eggs. Eggs are too expensive for a dog snack/treat.
My coop is solid, and dog cannot get in.
Yesterday, I cleaned coop out, removed litter/mulch, cleaned nest boxes etc.....I had 6 eggs in nest so I put them in a cleaned box, to take in house when I was finished, and...
Ok. I'm trying to find a convenient, simple container for collecting eggs. What type of container do you use to collect eggs from your coop? Hat, apron, pockets, pillowcase, basket, ice cream bucket, easyer egg basket, box?
I'm thinking my container needs a handle I can carry on my arm, kinda...
This kinda off the wall question. I'm rural and have a septic system. I use liquid safeguard among other types of pest control. Generally, I rinse all containers outside with a hose, however, I need to dose animals? It's raining, cold, and will be for awhile. Will safeguard cause a septic issue...

This is an interesting article
I have seen it repeatedly.
I pour water out of waterer, clean it, scrub it clean. Refill with beautiful pristine clean water. The chickens consistently will drink the water I poured out, then scratch around in run until enuff litter is in waterer-then they drink from waterer.
OR
I change water...
I have my flock, and a flock of feral that have run freely for years. I managed to catch/trap 3 of them, theres still 1 loose. Now, how long do I need to keep them penned before I can free range?
I'm cleaning my run out. Random thoughts
If you think it's a good idea-its not.
Wear gloves
Always wear layers of clothes. Pants over shorts long sleeve over tank/t-shirt.
Remember where you shed your clothes
Never ever add more than 2-3 inches of pine needles.
It's easier to add than subtract...
July 15th I went to TSC for feed. I left with 12 babies.
3 rir
6 blue andulusians
3 astralorp 🤔
I have previously had astralorps (black) and chicks were black. These were blue. Whatever, I figured chicks got mixed and they would be blue andulusian. I don't stress breeds, I like em. Now, 7ish...
I mowed yesterday. This s.m. I went out to rake yard. Grass still had dew on it, raked a load dumped by run for later. Sat down drank coffee, browsed byc....
1 1/2 hours later, I raked another load and dumped it by the first pile.
And found this in the first pile, 7 eggs from the neighbors...
I have a flock of 5. 4 hens laying and a rooster. One day I made the mistake of going to TSC, those babies are so So SO cute.
UT oh! $1 a chick. Got 9 blue andulusian pullets and 3 rir pullets for a grand total 12 for $10. Well, I never have good luck with chicks, want 5 buy 5 3 die......so 12...
Long detailed post. Please bear with me. I moved here a year ago. Neighbors have wild chickens-no coop no run, roost in my pine trees. Slowly the roosters have disappeared. 5-6 hens running. I have 4 girls a rooster and recently added 12 babies. I let the big girls out to free range. I saw...
I have an existing flock of 4 hens and a rooster (2+ yrs old).
And 12 3 week old babies. I moved the dog crate full of babies into coop. See don't touch. Its been 3 days. My flock is ignoring them. No interest no curiosity no aggression. Nothing. How long should this go on before I comingle the...
He belongs to a neighbor (neighbor has no idea on breed-just a chicken).
I think he's gorgeous (there are 2 almost identical)
Any ideas on breed or is he "just a chicken" in mutt?
