Yeah, the i'm going to hope for wharf rat, casue i've been told we don't have weasls around here only minks....and i can't kill them i think. i guess i need to save up for a trap....we can't put poison out cause of a cat we have. He goes into the chicken pen using the top of the door, doesn't...
the holes are about three or four inches wide.....like a large snake hole.....i know we have a whorf rat, but could it do something like that? to kill a large rooster and duck....i think i have pictures of the bodies somewhere if anyone wants to see them....(took at the time to show grandmother...
OK, so this winter my girls have been totally cooped up.
In late fall of last year we lost a duck in it"s pen. well around that time we started getting snow and it was to bad to let them out, well at the end of Jan beginning of Feb we had nice weather, so i let the girls and my three roosters...
Lets see finding chickens hiding is like easter egg hunting you find some easy, others are harder.
Some places i would look are under the coop if it's raised up, under anything they could get under. I've seen my big meatie chicken drag herself under a kids wagon that she shouldn't have been...
hmmm, well the eye looks like my one but not the listlessness, droopy, and sleepiness doesn't sound like mine. I don't know want to tell you now....maybe someone will come along that knows. if not maybe search the form for droopy listless chick.
hmm lets see i know i heard someone around here say they were selling some on craigslist. *diggs around* here we go.

I think the other person sold theirs.... sorry.
I'm sorry for your losses. something like this happened to me too, just with in the family.
Around here if a dog hurts a animal it is put in a lot with a electric fencing.(be as we see it it kills a animal it can attack a human and hurt someone)
We had one dog that killed some chickens we had...
we used outside rated silicone caulk for our cracks.
one thing i've learned.
Don't build the run (if your coop is inside the run) then let the chickens stay in it while your build the coop. The run will get so muddy that you step inside holding a heavy wall frame and you sink into the mud...
ok, thanks. then i have a porcelain booted bantam boy (i thought so. i have another one in the brooder that looks different but is the same age. it's still in there because it was picked on so it's with my two ameracana's one which has a crooked beak.), a silver spangled hamburg boy, rhode...
Well one test to see if it's watering is to hold her and lightly touch the closed eye, my chick's eye watered or released build up tears from the eye even tho it was closed, that and the fluff was slicked back like it was wet.
It sounds like my chick. We think something got in the eye or another...
slate gray i think, yeah i sure their slate gray and clean. i'll check tomorrow but i remember seeing on toe or the bottom of the feet were pink....but it may be on of the others. i'll check in the morning. But i know there slate gray.
oh! OK, then. now i just need the sexes. ^^ oh and if my big hen is a meat or boiler bird. If we don't kill her will she live a good life? We didn't want meat birds, my mom doesn't believe in killing pets and she sees the chickens as pets. I'm abit worried because i heard they don't live long...
The eye thing sounds like what my ameraucana chick had. Is the fluff or feathers slicked back around the eye or the eye watery? What was it with before you got it, other chicks? Is it de-beaked?
