OMG, Blooie! You're getting egged BIG TIME :lau! I see many chicks in your future and it ain't by accident!! Stop worrying already and enjoy the good Lords blessings :hugs. And please please please post pics when the time comes :).
I KNOW! I knew I heard another one peeping in there but to hatch this far down the road is crazy!! Hang in there, Blooie! It'll all work out just how it's supposed to. :hugs :fl
The ones DH set were supposed to hatch on easter but we got one 2 days before. Then after the holiday he went to "man camp". I didn't have the heart to toss the other eggs in the bator but we're well past easter now. I picked up 3 chicks (for company of course) and I'll be darned if today ...
:hugs
FWIW, the eggs DH set for me only produced one EE also and they were our own. I am grateful for the one that did hatch but kinda expected at least two. Not sure where we went wrong either as we're newbs at this and I did not look at the ones that didn't hatch as I'm not sure what to look...
Really? Good to know! I don't have any hatching experience but it seems like the legs are positioned differently on each side :/. It's up and running but the legs are not quite right. I will keep a close eye on it and post in the emergencies thread if need be as I don't want to take away from...
I noticed how off balance this chick was with only one wing and decided to take a look. The other wing was there but kinda shrink wrapped to her neck and body. Removed a large piece of almost dry membrane with warm water & Q-tip, had a quiick look everything and put her back into the bator...
Thanks for chiming in, Alex! I was reluctant to assist because I wasn't sure if it was ready but the poor thing was screaming all night long. I ended up assisting at 3:00 am, gently removing parts of the shell and dampening the membrane which I left in tact. Then I put her back in the bator...
Oh, thank you! I didn't know that :/. So would it be best to let it be until morning? I don't want to hurt by helping but the feathers that are exposed are drying to the shell.
Oh, that's right! You're used to the broody doing the hatch ;). Well at least I have some idea how to assist thanks to you! Wish me luck because s/he's still peeping away and hasn't budged one bit since last post :/.
Thank you! Just watched it and WOW that looks nerve-wracking!
DH says the pip looks exactly as it did when he woke up this morning. Do you know how long I should wait before assisting? I think it's supposed to be 24 hrs under normal circumstances but, unless a solid unpipped egg can peep...
Is it possible to have two chick's in one egg?? Just the one egg has piped and hasn't progressed much but I hear two cries! One coming out of the pip and sounds like one (muffled) behind it? None of the other eggs are moving so IDK. I'll try to capture on video if possible.
