Is this khaki hen a hybrid? :(

I believe this is day 6 of her sitting on the nest. There are a few chicken eggs in there, because I have stubborn, stupid chickens. Hahaha How do I take the eggs to candle, without upsetting her or scaring her off the nest? Part of me just wants to leave them and see if we have ducklings in...

Is this khaki hen a hybrid? :(

Yes, she does have irredescent green on her wings! Just on the edges. Underneath she is a lighter brown. She is a very pretty, sweet girl. Her name is Mammy. :) Thanks y'all. I guess my next step is to candle?

Oooh THANK YOU! I think MMM Is McMurray? If so, yes. We won't eat them. haha I think I am going to go to tractor supply and get 2-3 more laying chicks to go with them. They will have to move to their own brooder here soon, cause the cornish X will get BIG fast. The first guy has a...

Getting Baby chicks when I have a Flock already?

Well, it depends on the protein % in your pellets... I feed meat bird crumble as chicks, and then I have a custom mix I have made (soy free) locally, that I will put them on the last few weeks (it would work now, but is ground small enough). Let me see if I can find a good chart... Here is...

What are these 2 exotics? (added onto order)

Received our order of 60 meat chicks today. They sent a lot of extras, and added in a few exotics. Any idea what they are? I am thinking cochins of some kind? =/ I am not sure the second isnt just a cornish cross, but with the dark stripe I thought maybe not? Thanks yall!

Getting Baby chicks when I have a Flock already?

Im not an old timer or a professional chicken person. =) I have 29 chickens, have had chickens for about 4 years total, 2 of those years I have raised meat chickens also. This is my third batch of meat chickens, they arrived today. First, I would say disease can be spread easily from wild...

    LGD-where to kennel/sleep?

The pull and sitting down, not moving was classics for huck as well. He didn't start cooperating at all until I did the treats. Once I started giving treats for each little thing he did good (even if it was, I had to say sit, while he was sitting haha) he started trusting and opening up. Does...

    LGD-where to kennel/sleep?

He is doing great with food training. He is SO laid back with the kids and me. Very calm, like and old man. Super mellow. I feel like I am seriously a bad luck charm with female dogs though. Anne went back to the breeder because she had a genetic issue w her jaw and teeth (narrow jaw and...

    LGD-where to kennel/sleep?

Thank you so much! I expect we will have some set backs, but I think with the right help we will get through them all. Huck si doing GREAT! He is like an old man, just really laid back, less puppy, more serious. He is still playful, but not what I would expect from a 4 month old pup. He...

    LGD-where to kennel/sleep?

We got pup #2. Anne joined us friday. We did the chicken training like you suggested, this morning. I held a chicken in front of her and she pawed it. I immediately corrected her. Repeated it and she looked away. So we will continue. I think she had a lot more people exposure (mostly to kids)...

    LGD-where to kennel/sleep?

Thank you! They are doing great with him! They know he isn't a pet, but that he may check on them. They are allowed to pet and say "good boy" when he sits. Otherwise, they don't give him attention, and I told them no running around him, especially near chickens, so that he doesnt think they...
