The girls have been laying for about 6 weeks now. Some small , some largish eggs. 1.8 - 2.4 oz. but yesterday we got a 3.4 oz. egg!! the carton won't come close to closing. What is the largest egg a RIR has produced?

I think dr. spock was pretty good, but I think Capt. kirk was a better.

Just thought of this. We are raising some rir's and are thinking about free ranging. Can they swim? Will a swimming pool be a deather trap? ( in-ground pool ) We have a pond also, but I would imagine they could just walk out. thanks, Chas

I think I saw a tv show years ago where they had a truck( like a roofer's tar truck) that had a long hose and a big stainless probe that the operator pushed in the mound and steamed the daylights out of them. I also think it was in TX.? Chas

how much space would it take for a run to be self sustaining? not turned to dirt. sq. ft per bird or sq. acre per bird?
