    Suet for chickens?

This recipe is great! I'm going to try making some right away but I was wondering if you have to keep them in the freezer until right before you use it. Can you take them out and put them a Ziploc or the fridge?

    Need home for chicks

Thank you SO much for telling me this. A friend of mine just put in day old chicks and it worked for her but maybe she was just very lucky. I would be so sad if cute little baby chicks got killed because of me being stupid. Maybe i'll try getting some fertalized eggs then and see how that goes...

How to Break a Broody Hen

Yes they are in the same coop. I live in the city so I don't have a very big coop or area for another enclosure. I am collecting the new eggs from my other hens. I will try the wire cage method, thanks for the suggestion.

How to Break a Broody Hen

I definetly won't do that. I agree that it would be VERY bed for her. I've heard that chickens can die from being wet with regular watter let alone ice water. I did end up trying the ice pack method but stopped half way because I felt bad about making her bare chest so cold (spoiled chickens hehe).

    Need home for chicks

I have a hen who is broody. She is VERY stubborn and will not give up on trying to hatch her (fake) eggs. No matter what I try she will not stop being broody. I want to try getting a few baby chicks to put under her and see if that helps end her broodiness however, I live in San Diego so there...

How to Break a Broody Hen

I have a Cochin bantam and a buff orpington that are currently broody. It's my first time with broody hens so I was actually happy when I realized they were broody (it's kind of funny seeing my tiny bantam growling and puffing herself up at me). However, I'm going on vacation in a few days and I...

    Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

This is my Silkie pullet, Effie. I'm planning on showing her this year. It will be my first time ever showing a chicken so I'm very excited. Could I get some critiques on her? I dont really know much about what a good silkie looks like.

    Scabby and bloody around vent

We're going on vacation day after tomorrow and having a neighbor watch our chickens. I dont think my neighbors want a chicken in their house . I thought about blocking off a corner of the coop for our hurt chicken but our coop is way too small. Thanks

    Scabby and bloody around vent

I picked up my chicken today to check her and she had blood on her feathers. I checked her vent and right under the vent (the actual vent looks fine) it was scabby and bloody. THere were also quite a few mites crawling around. In the run I've been seeing a lot of feathers from that chicken...
