WHAT Kind of mite and DOES IT MATTER?

Oh, and I read somewhere that some mites will get in your respiratory system. SERIOUSLY? And do those northern red mites come in the summer?

WHAT Kind of mite and DOES IT MATTER?

Teeny tiny, look black or brown. See them when they get on my arm or hand, and in coop cracks. A couple chickens have pale combs, lower egg production. Seeing nothing on birds, but FEEL them crawl on me when I pick them up. Will they infest my home? Used sevin today after cleaning coop -...

Muscovy duck hatched 5! Warm enough with her?

Thank you! I Knew this, but needed reassurance. I'll sleep better now :D She's such a good mama. And yes, they've been incubated outside and she's been conscientious to the nth degree. I'll post pics of the darlings tomorrow. Again, thank you thank you!

Ok for duck to sit on infertile eggs?

We wound up getting 6 fertile eggs and replacing the infertile ones. 5 of the 6 have now hatched, and she's pleased as punch. But still wants to set! Today we found her sitting on a chicken egg lol. She's veeeeeerrrrryyyyyy maternal :)

Muscovy duck hatched 5! Warm enough with her?

Hi - 5 beautiful ducklings, now about 48 hours old. Happy with mama, in a secure outdoor coop with bedding, water, and crumbles. My worry: it's getting down to 45 tonight. They'll be warm enough under mama, right? no drafts, but ventilation above. I wasn't worried, but then panicked...

Ok for duck to sit on infertile eggs?

I assume they're infertile, as we had to rehome our drake 2 months ago when he became overly aggressive with us. She started laying eggs 10 days ago, I didn't remove the first one as she was protective and didn't realize she was laying daily - there are now about 9 eggs in her nest and she's...

    2Story Coop

I have a 2 story coop. I planned it so that my ducks could be on the first floor, and my chickens on the upper level. NO ONE uses the first floor! They all want to go 'upstairs', lol! I can block the downstairs, and use it for integration, etc., but other than that, it's hardly touched.

    muscovy and chickens

Oh duck crap. Duplicate postings and I have no idea how to delete. Speaking of crap, it doesn't bother me. I just clean as necessary. And yes, we use baby pools. They do this cool 'torpedo' underwater swimming that is amazing to watch!

    muscovy and chickens

Coming in late, but I'm in suburbia and have 2 female Muscovies and 4 hens and they live together. I don't clip my girls wings, and my blue has been missing since yesterday morning. I don't regret not clipping - 1) my neighbors have enjoyed their flying, rather than minding (and I share all the...

Wry Neck Closed Eye Vet Visit Update INPUT PLEASE

When I got home, my guy and I went outside and gave our girls BOSS, warm oatmeal, and mealworms, and celebrated our Pila. We've decided it will be an annual feast day - a day to look at all our blessings and think of all of the good beings in the world.

Wry Neck Closed Eye Vet Visit Update INPUT PLEASE

Pila is at rest :) My wonderful vet came in and we put her down together. He hugged me, said I am a good woman, and said no charge. Pila brought us many gifts, even in her death. Thanks everyone.
