Hello. I want to raise turkeys strictly for personal use, but I'm not sure which breed is right for me? Any suggestions? I live in central Arkansas. And I'd like a breed that has lots of flavor. I don't want the broad breasted or other genetically altered breed.
I understand Langshans are very broody. If I wanted to allow a hen to hatch eggs, how many days can one add eggs to the clutch without compromising chicks? I'm guessing 3 days, am I right? Thank you.
There is a poultry show in Garland County on April 4, 2015 at the Fairgrounds. I think set-up is at 7am. Im not sure what time it's open to the public.
Oh, I didn't realize that. I've a lot of research and now that I've finally made up my mind, I'm a little excited. I guess I fit into the "I know enough to be dangerous" category.;) When would be the best time to acquire a starter flock?
Out of curiosity: I've noticed a lot of people buy chicks and eggs. I am wondering if they have a hen to raise them, or do chicks know by instinct how to be chickens?

I really like the black and the splash but the blue ones are pretty, too. If I got one of each hen, which rooster should I get to breed them to for a colorful yard?
