Well, I posted earlier that I have four guineas. Make that three. I was missing one a week or so ago. Noticed it when I let the chickens out in the morning. Then when I was standing at the kitchen sink I caught something out of the corner of my eye. It was my guinea being eaten by one of the...
They both look non bearded to me. And I would guess pullets. My white has a comb and wattle at 12 weeks and my partridge has no showing of either so I feel petty sure it is a pullet. Are either of your whites showing any type of comb or wattle? Couldn't really tell by the pictures. But good...
I also have seen chicken who have had their feathers pecked out and they never grew out. HOWEVER, this chicken has NOT been with other chickens. I have never seen anything like this. If you have a vet who also specialized in birds you might want to take her there and see what he says. Sorry I...
Sure hope so. I think my white one is a Roo and the two are always together. The white one "Fuzzy" is a lot more outgoing but then I have had him since he was tinny. Got the partridge when the white was about 1 1/2 months old but they are both just about the same age.
I have a "different" question. Do hen Silkies have combs and wattles? I have a partridge who isn't showing any sign of either and a white one that has both. I think they are both somewhere between 2 and 3 months. I am really hoping the partridge is a hen. It has beautiful coloring and blue ears...
Thanks for the information! I will see if I can get some started tomorrow. I am really new to all of this but I sure have enjoyed all my chickens and guineas.
That is one of the crulest things I have ever heard of. Where are the animal rights people when it comes to this? I would quit my job before they could get me to do that.
This is probably a really dumb question, but could you use dry oatmeal in the fermented mix? And if you just use water to start the mix how long does it take to ferment?
Ya, I know we don't need three roosters but so far they all get along really good. In fact they are always together. They have (at least two of them) have figured out what their job is and are very active now. I did see one do his job and then the hen turned around and chased him off. It was...
Love this breed. Have two that are always together. As they have gotten older they are not as likely to be around my feet but they are such fun to watch. They are about 2 1/2 months old and IF I had known I could get the chicks earlier they just might be the only breed I would have. But they...
We have 6 hens which we bought when they were 13 months old. It took close to 3 weeks for them to adjust to our place but now we get from 3 to 5 nice brown eggs a day. We also have two Wyandott roos which are aprox. 5 or 6 months old and have just recently figured out what their job is. It is...
Is there any ratio of how much brown sugar or apple juice you put into the grains? Something like 2 C. brown sugar with so many cups of grain? I would like to get this started but I am worried I will mess up and waste way to much.
I am so sorry you can't find them. I have four and think only one is a female as I have only heard one give that "come back" call. They were hatched on June 12 and have been out and free ranging for about 3 weeks now along with our 9 chickens and two silkies. They take off during the day and fly...
