She crowed twice around 12 weeks, I posted pics then and everyone said "rooster".
She never crowed again and here she/he is now. Tomorrow is our last day to bring her back of she's a he.
What do you experts say?
We purchased those two in late august, they were hatched on 8/12, both were supposed to be female Speckled Sussex... seems like we have one EE hen and the SS looks like a roo to me, her comb is small and not red, and she's super sweet, jumps on my lap and loves to cuddle and stuff, but her tail...
7 days since we quarantined the sick bird, been very careful, different members of the family take care of the two separate flocks and I cared for the sick hen.
My 2 other EEs have not shown any symptom what so ever (they had been in contact with her very briefly the day before she showed...
I already quarantined her, she's a little Easter Egger bantam, probably around 3 months of age.
I noticed her runny nose 3 days ago, she was otherwise fine. She's eating, drinking, but kind of spaced out, not moving as much, she peeps softly, she's all cuddly and sad looking.
Her nostril are...
We got this cute little EE hen, she's white and buff, fully feathered, I was told she was about 7-8 weeks but I'm thinking she might be older than that and be a bantam.
She's super light, petite, she does look young but I'd think more 4-5 months from behavior, comb color.
Looking at pics bantams...
I treated my flock of 7 for Coccidosis, then de-wormed them, they got second dose a few days ago of Valbazen, my Brahma's havign a rough time re-gaining weight, she's all bone and feathers, but eats well, full of energy and acting as usual, except not laying, but she's going through an early...
If humans can take a much higher dose of Valbazen than chickens, why do i need to throw out the eggs?
I got the info from the Poison Center that humans can have up to 400mg of Valbazen with no side effects, and that it is prescribed for pinworm in humans at 4mg twice a day for 14 days, so why...
How many days do I have to wait, if any, to worm the chickies?
We just treated them for cocci, which one of them had a confirmed case of, and she's now back to normal and laying again, but two have worms and we just got Valbazen in the mail yesterday. Do I need to wait or can I give it to them...
They are 31 weeks old, a Wyandotte and a Brahma, the first started laying at 19 weeks and did daily until 3 weeks ago when we added 2 new chickens (which are both under her in the pecking order), the second (head of flock) started laying around 23 weeks and stopped 10 days ago, after acting...
The pics do not do her justice. She is beautiful lavender and buff, the lavender being very blue in the day light. She looks mottled/spotted, she's a year old, 5 toes, white ears, grey blue feet. Hasn't laid an egg yet, we just got her 3 days ago.
My newly laying hen, Fozo, a gold laced Wyandotte, has been laying doulbe yolkers only. 4 eggs so far and they all were double yolk. Is it relatively normal or unusual? Is it just because she's just starting? She's been laying for about a week.
I have nowhere else to whine about it. The entire weight of the 4x8 plywood board fell down on my foot while I attempted to put it up to protect it from the rain. (I'm in the process of building the coop, roof not up yet)
It is swollen and really hurts, I'm home with the four kids and no car...
What are they and what do I do?
I got some 2x4s from Home Depot to build my coop and run, and put them near the pallets and wood we are using for the coop, this morning I noticed little red things all over them and on some of the wood I already had. Looked at the ones still on the van, same...
We raised them from chicks, they are about 12 weeks old, girls. I injured my back shorty after we got them so the coop building process has been taking a lot longer than my planned 2 weeks. The girls still are in the house, in a reconverted baby crib, they have room to move around, deep litter...
Acts like a girl, and I'm thinking girl since wattles and comb are still pink, legs aren't big, gets along with everyone, likes to be held, no crowing, etc.
I've noticed some feathers that make me wonder, what do you think?
I've been here reading and learning but haven't posted yet.
I've finished drawing our coop last night, using all the materials we have around the house, and we're building it today :D
We have four young 9 week old girls (or so we hope, haha) Fozo, the Gold laced Wyandotte, and clearly the head...
