Yes, it's a major mutt chick..haha! Half silkie, quarter rhode island red and a quarter Ameraucana. I can't wait to see what it turns out like! But it is a super cute chick.
Thought I'd update for fun. The chick hatched completely normal. It's now 2 weeks old and thriving. No affect from the wazine.
The Buff Orpington hen also hatched a chick. I just moved her so she wouldn't be disturbed. Turns out she wasn't unfaithful to her egg...she was just getting...
Thanks for replying! I'm sorry to hear about Malta..it is heartbreaking to lose them. I had no idea I would fall for my chicks the way I did. I thought chickens were "just chickens" until I had my own. My pullet, Angie has been showing these symptoms for about 23 days. She hasn't gotten...
JetPack, did you find anything out for sure about your pullet? I have an Ameraucana pullet about 4.5 months showing the exact same symptoms. From what I've read, she could have ascites, but I'm not sure.

But I've been fooled...I had a little pullet...sweet as can be, looked like all the other pullets, weighed less than all the other roos...then one day, she crowed, and is now the dominant rooster of the flock :) haha!
I agree...most likely
Cockerel
Cockerel - I have had both an Easter Egger roo and an Ameraucana roo marked just like that at that age. They turn out BEAUTIFUL

I just found this thread, so I'll move my post here. I have a similar question.
I wormed my flock with wazine 11 days ago. In those 11 days, two of my hens went broody. The Buff Orpington is rather confused, she moves from nest to nest to sit on different eggs, or moves to a nest with no...
Not sure if this is the proper category to post, but I have a few questions about my broody hens.

I'm completely new to chickens and never could figure out where their crop was until one day I felt it on a chick. Right in the middle of the chest...very soft and squishy. Sometimes they get HUGE compared to their little bodies..but they always go back down after not eating for a while. Very...
Update: Tuesday, I took a stool sample to the vet to have it checked for coccidia. Test was negative. I kept a close eye on the chicks Tuesday. All seemed fine, no "feeling bad" behavior. There were still a few poops with a lot of bloody stuff. Wednesday I found some that looked like...
This morning I found some more red colored and a lot of dark yellow runny poop, so I took some samples to our vet. He did a smear test and a float test and said there were no coccidia. HURRAY! I asked him if being on Duramycin for 11 days could have upset their digestive system..he said that...
Thank you vonchick..after seeing another pic just like mine that said intestinal lining I am hoping that's what it is..especially since none seem to be feeling badly. I've seen little red and orange bits here and there and knew that was intestinal lining, but never realized it could be so...
I just read this article and there is a picture that looks just like mine and it says it is intestinal lining. I'm a little confused now.

Today in our coop of 5-8 week old chicks, I saw a reddish poop. Later my husband saw one. We couldn't determine if it was bloody or not. Later I saw another big blob of poop that was bright red and took these photos. Trying to determine if it's cocci or not. I couldn't tell by the chicken...
