Thank you for that info. Have you had any go broody? I closed of her favorite nest box this morning. Hoping that will help and I don't find her in the next one, lol
The light color hens are in question. They do have yellow legs and their eggs started out as a cream color but are now bright white so I am thinking leghorns as told...BUT I have one that has gone broody. Everything I've read said that they rarely do.
Also, when she began her nesting, egg...
We purchased at a small mom n pop feed store (not TSC) who orders in from hatcheries. I know I should have done my homework BEFORE purchasing them but...you know how that goes, lol.
Soooooo... I am raising 2 brahma hens in our little mixed flock...and just NOW found out how big they'll get!!! My neighbor says we should sell admission tickets for people to come up our mountain to see them, lol. I am a little concerned that they will scare our 5 year old twin nephews...

Mine are doing the same thing. This is new to me as my last batch never tried this....it gave me a scare this time as one flew right up and out past my face as soon as the lid was lifted, lol. She was promptly put back in which I didn't hear the end of for quite some time, haha!
We have our chick brooder in the dining room (will be moved to the enclosed front porch in a few weeks), but I am at a loss of how to vaccuum my house and not scare the feathers off my baby chicks! NOT vacuuming my floors is not an option.
Any suggestions? Is it better to do during the day...
