I am losing about one hen per week.
Here are the symptoms.
I notice one eye 'mattering' and closing.
They just slow down and then I find them dead.
I have seen Mareks before. These do not have the symptoms where they lose balance and eventually cannot walk.

18 big brown hatching eggs from Rocky's girls. Rocky is my prized Barred Rock and he has 6 girls that he takes care of. These Barred Rocks are not from a hatchery, but have good bloodlines. They lay BIG brown eggs on a consistent basis and are very well mannered.

A local university is doing a study for a major egg company.
They have 1000 hens in a battery trying to see if they can get 2 eggs per day.
Different feeds and such.

Sox, the tomcat decided that he needed a chick today.

The fury of those to BOs was like nothing I have ever seen.
Amazing.
Buffy and Betty are sisters.
Betty went broody two weeks ago.
She has so many eggs under her that now Buffy has started helping her.
28 eggs..........wow.
The local feed store has a "chick day" once per year. They take pre orders.
My 25 comet pullets came in today.
I put them with my 6 guineas that are 9 days old.
The day old comets are bigger than the 9 day old guineas.
Too cute.

Bandaid - named this one that because we had to do the bandaid splints on the feet. She had curled toes. 12 hours with bandaids and she was normal.

We had one hatch out that has the curled toes, so we used the bandaids for splints.
Taking them off when I get home, and hopefully she/he will be just fine from then.
So cute with the little bandaid feet. We are going to name her/him Bandaid.
Jacob is one of 9 children who lives with a single mom.
He loves chickens and helps to feed his family with the eggs.
His pitiful little coop got broken into by dogs and they killed almost all his birds.
