    Coturnix feathers sticking out

It does look like a frizzle. Funny, just today I read that it is, indeed, a thing quail can have as well as chickens. Sweet looking girl.

    James Marie Farms

I had ordered from JM Farms. Spoke to Robby and he told me it would be about 2 weeks before they shipped. It did take longer. But I got them about a month after we spoke. They had been very backed up. In the meantime, being impatient by nature, I had ordered some "JM Farms" jumbo...

    FERMENTED FEEDS...anyone using them?

I had that happen this summer when I didn't snap the lid down tight. The food wasn't "off", it's just an extra source of protein. They were digging through trying to find them. LOL

How do I keep raccoons away

I am so sorry that happened. Really wanted to be wrong. We have a hardware cloth covered coop too. I have a latch that's hard for me to latch. We have dogs baking near then all day and night if something alerts them. And I still watch for them. Went to the backyard near their coop lady night...

    Is lantana poisonous to chickens?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize they were doing that until recently. One jumped up and I started watching to see if it was a bug on there or what. Nope. The seeds. They don't seem to be any worse for it, but if there is an underlying cumulative effect, I'd certainly like to know and...

    Is lantana poisonous to chickens?

I know this is an old thread. Came across it while googling "is lantana poisonous to chickens". I'm checking because as we live in South Mississippi, and it is EVERYWHERE! I remember as a kid, we called it ham and eggs plant. No idea why. Anyway, my chickens will jump up to grab the ripe...

Rooster crows only when I'm not there?

LOL That was my theory! I am the main care-taker. My husband will be gone weeks at a time. This is the first time he's really fooled with them. And it's been a good bit lately. He'll take them treats and sit and watch chicken tv now. But I'm definitely the mama in a couple of ways. I'm...

Rooster crows only when I'm not there?

Okay, we have a young flock, about 4 months old. My Buff Orpington rooster, has started crowing. But only when my husband lets them out. He never crows in front of me. What gives? Yesterday morning, I waited around the corner so I could hear our "big boy" crowing. He started crowing, as...

Oh, jeez. Me too. Love this little guy. And he's so calm and good with people and his "flock". Today, I had them out in the run - the big girls and this guy. Let the littles out in the coop to run around. He was trying to get back into the coop to get them when he realized they were out. I...

    New chicks in South Mississippi!

That's so great that he helped you though! Mine would do it too, griping the whole way! LoL But he'd do it if it's within reason and makes me happy. Congrats on the pen. Looks great. I so need extra space. Separate pens that is. The one has lots of room. But, need to have different areas...

Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

With this cockerel, I cannot do that. He is trying to kill them. Flat out. My hope is that as they are still growing really fast and the older crew are growing a bit more slowly now, maybe they will catch up a bit size wise to hold their own. Right now, there is no way I could do it. The...

Post Pics Of Orps/ Orpingtons HERE

That is my thinking as well. I guess I didn't think such a calm bird would be so violent with something so small that is also chicken. Have them in there for just that purpose, integration. Just really surprised as he doesn't act terribly territorial or do other things I hear of roosters...
