What temperature should an egg-o-meter read in a forced air incubator? Just got one and first time using it. I know you want to aim for about 99 degrees in a forced air incubator. Is that the temp the egg-o-meter should read?

Metzer farms. Replacements unfortunately getting shipped in August

Mine were great mothers, too. Hopefully, my new batch (once I get the replacements from the hatchery) will have as good of mommies as the batch I used to own.

So, I got an order of chocolate runner ducklings from Metzer farms earlier this year. I have been waiting on pins and needles for them to arrive. My order of Roman Goslings from them came in March and are growing great. One died soon after arrival, but they added a replacement to my May duckling...

Looking for some rare/heritage hatching eggs. Was thinking if a nice dual purpose breed like heritage barred rocks. Maybe show quality orpingtons? Anybody got some extra eggs I can buy? Up for about anything. Selling a few of my hens locally to fund it, so I'll have some chicken money to spend 😁

It's suddenly occurred to me why I was able to get the humidity so much higher this time around then I have in the past. I unintentionally hooked up a humidifier right next to the incubator. I don't know why it didn't occur to me before that I could put a humidifier outside of the incubator and...

Candled my eggs this morning. It's not looking good for my Ayam Cemani eggs, unfortunately. The olive eggs will be a crapshoot; they're much too dark to see anything.

So, I had a surprise while checking on my Silkie tractor this morning: newborn silkie chicks. Both my Silkie hens were sitting, so the babies have 2 mothers. Temperatures here are down to the 30's at night and 60's during the day. Will the little ones be ok with their mothers outside, do you think?

Here's my pretty contribution to the hatch-along. I have no clue how I ended up with an olive egger naked neck, but it's awesome. Therefore, I'm hatching all her eggs. The others are from my Ayam Cemanis.

I'll join up. I will have some Olive Eggers and Ayam Cemani eggs.
