My goose will be 18 in May and after all these years I learned....

That goose eggs make incredibly creamy custard ice cream. I had some eggs frozen in my freezer and needed to use them and wow, it was the best vanilla ice cream ever. Now I wish I hadn't given all those goose eggs away.

A hangable, chargeable light bulb-no electricity needed

I found these on Amazon and loved them so much, I wanted to share. They can be hung in your coop and they come with a small remote. I take the remote with me to the coop and the bulbs light up my 12x20 coop wonderfully. If you forget the remote they have a tiny button you can push too but I...

I planted grass for my chickens but I think grubs are killing my lawn...I thought

I thought the chickens kept grubs in check but the grubs are under the ground. Also I read Milky spore can be used safely around the chickens. Was wondering if anyone had success with that. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else had grubs with chickens roaming their lawn. The chickens...

    Roses and chickens

So I read that chickens won't eat "knock out" roses...well today I found out different...they snipped off the rose buds even and ate those. It looked like they used scissors....I'm assuming when the bushes grow bigger, they can't reach the roses but not sure...Any suggestions for making an...

Has anyone heard about antibiotics no longer being sold at Farm Stores

I'm just giving a heads up, I was told at Tractor Supply that Tylan 50 will no longer be sold in stores, but then I read that no antibiotics will be available without a prescription anymore because people are using it for Covid. Has anyone else heard anything? Out of 8 stores, I found Tylan 50...

Antibiotics for chickens? Where to find?

My chicken has finally exhibited rattling sounds so I'm assuming she has an upper respiratory infection, could someone PLEASE tell me where to find antibiotics and what dosages? TIA She's trying to lay an egg and can't so I thought she was eggbound but when I had her in the bathroom, I could...

Hen with very thin quills and missing feathers and anemic

I am at a loss as to what is wrong with my bird. She has lost a lot of weight, looks anemic and has feather loss that I have never seen before. I looked for lice but I see nothing but I live alone and have no one to actually hold her. Any ideas? How to figure this out? Thanks

Lice or Mites...The myriad methods are confusing, what is the best chemical treatment

I moved to the city and my birds cannot find a suitable dust bathing area. I made them one but they do not like it. I will have to redo. In 30 years of chickens I've NEVER had mites or lice. So I'm late on thinking that is what this is. They've been wormed and had corid twice but I have a...

If you bring in a sick chicken and it's 12 degrees

Does it hurt to put it back out after it's been in a warm house? (once the chicken is well of course) I have always wondered about that. I'm not sure anyone knows, google doesn't or I'm not asking the right question.

    Look how cute this is

and they are calling it a duck, which I find funny! I don't find many cute things related to geese so just wanted to share. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0991YQP2H/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

I need ideas to keep this digger out...what in the heck!

So I'm assuming I have a rat. We just had heavy rains so he's digging in the mud when I am not even able to level the dirt because it's so heavy and wet. But I can't believe he dug approx. 3 feet....AND under the hardware cloth AND under the stone AND then under the door threshold. I even put...

Keeping goose inside during fireworks...what is the least messy way?

I moved to the city...and my goose who is 15 years old, will be stressed hearing the fireworks because they will be closer than ever. I should have planned ahead, but I want to go to a motel myself with my two dogs but don't want to leave my goose alone with all that racket so wanted to put her...

    Electric poultry fence gate question

I have my poultry fence set up but I needed a gate and I bought some metal fence panels and they work well for getting in and out, but when I am not at home, I wanted to electrify the metal gate and was wondering if I attach the lead from the fence to the metal gate panel if it would electrify...

Need ideas for temporary fencing idea for a patio

I moved. So my girls are temporarily sleeping in my garage. I need to herd them into the electric fence which is about 10 to 15 feet away. On the side of the garage I have posts so I need something to wrap around the posts to keep them from veering off the path. Any ideas appreciated?

Is this possible?: Ivermectin drops placed on vent to control worms

I'm never too old to learn but someone said they put drops of Ivermectin under the chicken's vent to worm them. I can see if you were treating for lice but if the worms are inside, I consider that impossible. However I read you can put the Ivermectin on their neck to control worms, so maybe it...

I need an alternative to poultry netting

I'm tired of taking it all up to mow and putting it back down. It stretches which I don't like either. I am overspent on my chicken coop so I need alternatives that I can do that are cheap. I might be able to pay someone to put up some tposts ( a fence would cost me $6,000, which I cannot do.)...
