Hi everyone I came in really late to this conversation, but I tried an experiment, my dogs came home from the vet, of all places, with fleas. Since my labrador is old and was sick I did not want to put a chemical on her and I had been doing some studying on d.e. So I tried an experiment, I...
yeah, I had already thought of that, however, only one of them has a mature comb and wattles(size and color wise) So I doubt that they are laying yet. As for the Guins They are too busy chasing windmills at this point. LOL:lol:
I have spring babies too and the only one that is laying is the banty and she is almost everyday. So I am playing the waiting game too. I have 8 ameracuanas, 2 black australorpes, 1 buff, 2 barred rocks, and 1 red hen that I am not sure what she is and a banty hen. Then I have 4 guineas that...
I love the DE! I not only use it for my chickens, but when my beloved doggie Rosie came home from the VET of all places with fleas, I dusted her my other dog and their kennel. The next day they did not have a flea in sight! It works wonders I think there is a post here on the site that tells...
Yeah she has laid the soft and hard egg since I got her in the spring from a person in town. She doesn't look too rough so far, but I assume that is what is going on since many of my other hens are loosing feathers. She is odd to be sure with the way she has always laid, I am hoping that maybe...
Ok so this is the on going saga of the weird hen who was laying a hard egg and then a soft one. Well now she is in molt and she has not laid an egg for over 3weeks. She seems healthy and happy other wise, so what do you all think?
They are sooo cute!! Is there any way to focus it in??? I have thought about putting a cam on out guinnies, their antics are funny. they get to running and sqwaking and all of the chickens run with them looking around as if to say "what are we running for?" And the guinnies say"I dono I just...
Welcome! I just love this site it has been sooooo valuable for me, especially since most of the feed stores really know nothing about raising chickens.
rimshoes, thanks for the sites they did help quite a bit! very informative.
I don't feel so worried now, because I was thinking, what if this is a bad trait and it is passed on to the chicks......but now I know he fits his name : Hansome
Ohh good I was worried he is a barnvelver-ameracuana mix, is what I was told. He seems very healthy in every other way, and I wanted chicks out of him and my ameracuana hens. Thanks for the compliments, I will pass them on! I was really expecting his comb to be larger than it is, it just...
I have a roo that was given to me a couple of months ago. The guy told me that he was fairly young and that his comb would pop out eventually. Well its been 2 months and its still the same. I don't know if I should worry or if this is pretty common. What do you all think?? here is a pic of him:
Hey anyone have any laying hens for sale? I would like ones that have either just started laying or no older than 3 years old, I am open to suggestions as to what breed of hen since my flock is a melting pot anyway.
Thanks!
