    nest box question

I am using old plastic milk crates for my nests. When they use them, they work pretty well.

    New nesting box

Yesterday I built a box for my chicken's nest. I took the two nests I already had and put them in the box with an additional nest. Today, I found one egg leading into the box, two where the old nests were, and one on the floor of the box. What can I do to get them to lay in the nests? I already...

    New chickens running the coop

Ok. Thanks. I haven't seen any blood and they don't seem to have any issues at night. I guess I will just keep an eye on them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New chickens running the coop

Ok, I'm new to chickens and I have a question. I got my first chickens last Thursday (6 American leghorns, 6 months old). On Sunday, I got two more chickens (1 barred rock and 1 Amicauna both a year old). The one year olds are scaring the younger ones. If one of the older ones is in the coop...

    New chickens

I couldn't help it, so I let my girls into the run when I got home from work. 4 of them left the coop almost immediately, but the other 2 took about 20 min. They seemed to really enjoy it though. I was a little worried they wouldn't go back in, but sure enough, just before dark I checked in them...

I want to let them free range, but due to the dogs I have, it will have to be supervised free range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New chickens

Ok. My run isn't huge (about 65 sq ft), but I'm gonna give them a few days before I let them out. They seem to be enjoying it so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New chickens

I just got my first chickens. I was wondering, how long should I leave them in the coop before opening up the door to the run? I read somewhere that they need time to get adjusted, but I don't know for sure. Also, what is a good way to get them back in the coop at night? Thanks!!
